Masa perdida (Plaza de las 4 culturas)
Mexico City, Mexico

Raw clay seeds, Ceramic Piñatas
Dimensions variable

A double entendre, Masa Perdida references both masa as “masses of people” and masa as corn Dough. Linking the mass disappereances of these, the clay piñatas and seeds installed in the “Plaza de las tres Culturas” invoke the concentrated history of violence within it.  Masa Perdida becomes a response to traditions, history,  displacement, loss, and the identities that arise when those meet.
